Org. Setting and Reporting                

The Centre for Alleviation of Poverty through Sustainable Agriculture (CAPSA) internship is for two months with an opportunity for extension up to six months, if required by the division. 

The objectives of CAPSA are: i) Enhanced national capacity for socioeconomic and policy research on sustainable agriculture for poverty reduction and food security; ii) Enhanced regional coordination and networking to successfully scale up and scale out research findings that have implications for policy design and implementation related to sustainable agriculture and rural development; iii) Enhanced capacity of policymakers and senior government officials to design and implement policies to achieve rural development, poverty reduction and food security through sustainable agriculture in Asia and the Pacific

This position is located at the Centre in Bogor, Indonesia.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned.
      
          

Responsibilities                

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background and the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period.  Duties may include, but are not limited to:
? To conduct supporting studies on the areas of sustainable agriculture, food security and poverty alleviation in the context of post-2015 development goals and sustainable development goals. 
? Assist with relevant research for development of information and public awareness materials in the above mentioned areas.
? Assist with the preparation & organization of training events .
? Assist in maintaining, updating and further expanding database.
? Assist with the preparation of various outreach meetings and briefing sessions.
? Assist with liaison with partners.

Education                

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: 
a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or 
c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
    
            

Work Experience                

Applicants 
- are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme;
- shall be computer literate in standard software applications;
- have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and 
- have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
    
            

Languages                

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset.
